Warnings When You Need Them Most
A NOAA Weather Radio provides around-the-clock weather information and can automatically alert you when severe weather threatens your area—even when you're asleep or not using your phone.
WHY A WEATHER RADIO?
Phones, weather apps, and local media are important ways to receive warnings, but no single method should be relied on. A NOAA Weather Radio provides another direct source of emergency weather information and alerts
PROGRAM YOUR RADIO
Program your NOAA Weather Radio for the area where you live so you receive the warnings that matter to you. Boles Fire Protection District residents should include Franklin County when setting up their radio.
WHERE TO KEEP IT
Keep your weather radio where you can hear it at night, such as in a bedroom or nearby hallway. Keep it plugged into power and install backup batteries so it can continue working during a power outage.
TEST IT & KEEP IT READY
Check your weather radio periodically to make sure it is working properly. Keep fresh backup batteries installed, set the volume loud enough to wake you, and use routine NOAA Weather Radio tests to confirm your radio can receive alerts.
