Fire Chief - James Casey

James Casey

Chief Casey grew up in the Labadie area and in a family where his father responded to emergency calls while his mother manned the emergency radio.  It seemed natural, at the age of 18, for the young Jim Casey to become a volunteer firefighter with the Boles Fire Protection District.  He has served many roles through the years. First, as firefighter, then engineer, then Captain of BFPD Fire Station #2. He later became District Deputy Chief and in September 1995, Jim was elected by the membership of Boles Firefighters' Association to the position of Chief.

In April 2000, Chief Casey was offered a position by the Board of Directors as the first career employee to serve as Chief of the District.

Chief Casey is a member of the St. Louis Incident Support Team that provides command support when needed throughout Missouri and portions of Illinois. He is also a member of Task Force 5 Technical Rescue providing specialized rescue support to Franklin and Jefferson counties. Other organizations include The Franklin County Fire Chief's Association, Franklin/Gasconade Firefighter's Association and Franklin County Communication Center.

In addition to his duties as Chief, Jim is the District's Fire Marshal. He continues to be active with the Fire Marshal's Association of Missouri, Franklin County Inspectors, and Franklin County Infrastructure Committee in an effort to standardize water, street and fire codes in his District and the entire county.

Chief Casey currently lives in Villa Ridge with his wife. He has 3 step-children, 6 grandchildren, 6 brothers and sisters plus many nieces and nephews. He was awarded Fire Chief of the Year by FFAM in 2005 and has received many awards and certificates for his years of service, training, and dedication to the Boles Fire Protection District.
